Thermo Lab Korea commences with the first mass production of the Eco-liner, the eco-friendly packaging material that can replacThe eco-friendly packaging company Thermo Lab Korea (CEO 최석) announced on the 12th that the company will begin the first mass production of the Eco-liner, the eco-friendly packaging material that is expected to reduce carbon emissions, in Korea. The Eco-liner that will be mass-produced is the first eco-friendly packaging material available in Korea that was developed using wastepaper to manufacture insulation paper and delivery boxes. The new material has a thermal conductivity that is superior to Styrofoam, a material that is generally used for packaging, and can maintain temperatures for up to 32 hours. As the interior is made of 100% paper, the Korea Environment Corporation approved it as an eco-friendly product that can be discarded as paper for waste sorting. The company expects to establish a green reputation with its eco-friendly products that can replace Styrofoam boxes and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. At the moment, Styrofoam is the packaging material of choice for refrigerated shipping in cold chain logistics. However, Styrofoam uses expanded polystyrene (EPS) that cannot be decomposed in nature for more than 500 years and is known to cause several social and environmental problems. ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) management is rapidly emerging as a core strategy for companies around the world. In line with the movement, the retail industry has been pushing its mission to find alternatives to Styrofoam which has often been highlighted as one of the main causes of environmental pollution. During such a time, Thermo Lab Korea’s CEO 최석 announced, "We will do our best to complete all orders in the first half of this year without any setbacks for clients commencing with their ESG management, establish an additional automated facility infrastructure to accommodate for our expanded customer traffic, ensure that our Eco-liner can be recognized as the only substitute for Styrofoam, and fulfill our role as a stable supplier.” Thermo Lab Korea is a leading eco-friendly packaging company that was designated as one of the 100 “Promising Green New Deal companies” in 2021 by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of Environment for its excellent carbon reduction and resource recycling technology. It is currently the only company in Korea with a complete line of disposable eco-friendly packaging, reusable packaging, and sustainable smart packaging technologies. Source: IT Biz2022.11.25
